Young professionals are embracing online bingo

Online bingo gaining in popularity

Bingo has become the favoured pastime of a new generation of young professionals, research has found.

A survey of 2,000 bingo enthusiasts by market researchers Mintel found that the proportion of people playing online bingo that work in managerial or skilled professions has increased from 27 per cent in 1995 to 38 per cent in 2009.

This means the overall proportion of people under the age of 45 indulging their love of bingo online has now risen to 62 per cent, representing a 16 percentage point rise in the last ten years.

Bingo is also proving popular among those aged 18 to 24 who now account for approximately 700,000 of the UK's 3.5 million online bingo players, with factors such as convenience and the easiness of the game thought to be part of the appeal.

Another recent bingo survey showed that Lady Luck may be smiling more on her female counterparts than men in the bingo world.

Research by PricewaterhouseCoopers found that twice as many ladies win the same amount of money as men when they indulge their bingo habit.ADNFCR-2445-ID-19234977-ADNFCR
