Woman raises money through bingo fun

Charity bingo fun to take place

A woman who refused to let physical adversity suppress her spirit has organised a session of bingo fun for charity.

Three years ago, Della Hancock was diagnosed with breast cancer and she says that dealing with the disease transformed her life, the Essex Echo reports.

She has since dedicated her time to raising money for charitable causes.

The 46-year-old has already overseen two bingo sessions and a third one is due to take place at the end of this week.

The money raised by bingo enthusiasts at the event will go towards the Lady McAdden breast screening unit in Westcliff, which is seeking £250,000 to purchase a new digital mammography machine.

Set up in 1976, the unit provides a well woman clinic offering breast screening services, as well as help and advice to make sure that people who use it are more breast aware.

Commenting on her progress since the diagnosis, Ms Hancock said: "I've not looked back, I am doing fine and enjoy life. Lots of my friends use Lady McAdden for screening and I think it's a worthy cause."
