Bingo lovers who have recently come into their winnings should brush up on the latest beauty trends and splash some cash on new makeup. However, many may be unsure of what look suits them for autumn, how to apply it and when to wear each look.
Fear not, for help is on hand, as beauty expert Zara Rabinowicz said that there are some simple steps ladies can take when applying their products. Preparation is the key as the new season brings different weather and while playing their online bingo games women should apply a creamier cleanser and a serum to bolster skin for more humidity.
Hair is another area ladies need to prepare for and a good mask, such as one from Andrew Collinge, can be a great buy with bingo winnings, the expert stated. "Your hair may have welcomed the summer's heat but it's likely all those long balmy evenings will have dried out the colour - especially if you have treated hair."
Makeup is the next step and ladies should look over their makeup bag and update it in between bingo games. Foundation is the first area which needs to be looked at, with Ms Rabinowicz suggesting that a lighter shade may be needed if the summer glow has slipped.
A good lipstick can set off an outfit well and nourishing ingredients should be a top priority, especially for older ladies. More mature bingo ladies should also take note of their skin conditions and start preventing against the signs of ageing.
Ms Rabinowicz said that any products with collagen in them are great for plumping out skin and helping to renew its cells. The harsh weather of winter, particularly in the UK, can aggravate the loss of collagen and accelerate the ageing process, so preparing against this is key.
"I'd suggest adding an intensive night cream to your routine ... and that an intensive hand cream should become part of your daily routine," she added, saying: "Keep drinking water, as a hydrated body will give you a head start in your battle with the elements."
However, bingo ladies need not spend all of their bingo winnings on a pot of cream as a recent survey by Which? found that a moisturiser worth £3 performed as well as more expensive brands. The company tested 12 anti-ageing eye creams and found that Simple Kind to Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturiser, costing £3.21, made the face look "visibly younger".
As for the shades for autumn, beauty journalist Karen Kay suggested glamour is the key as the catwalk is emulating the 1940s look. A bit of glitter and smoky eyes are a top look for bingo fans heading out for a night on the town, with ruby red lips being great for the bold. But ladies should bear in mind that the shocking red look may not suit them all and the shade of lipstick should be tailored to the skin tone.
However, top advice from the expert is: "Don't be dictated by trends - wear colours and styles that suit your skin tone and face shape and your lifestyle, that way your natural beauty will shine through and you won't look like a fashion victim."
