Online bingo is changing the nature of the game
The emergence of online bingo has had an impact on the nature of the game in the UK, it has been claimed.
According to an Online Bingo Club report, the web is taking over from traditional halls as the most popular means of engaging in the activity.
The article suggested that a number of traditional bingo companies, such as Mecca and Gala, have embraced the developments and moved some of their resources on to internet-based bingo games.
It added: "UK online bingo has been growing and growing since its launch on the net back in 1996. Nothing seems to be stopping the growth of the online bingo phenomenon, even the current economic climate."
Online Bingo Club went on to point out that bingo has always been a sociable form of gaming and internet versions of the activity reflect this.
They have developed bingo chat rooms so that players can converse with each other while online.
Last month, Sunlight Bingo suggested that, while the popularity of bingo halls may be declining, its online equivalent is burgeoning among fans of the activity in the UK.
