Michigan Still 'Loves Bingo'

Michigan will carry on

Bingo is still popular in Michigan, it has been claimed.

A bingo hall in Michigan is proving that there is still life in the traditional format of the game.

Every night of the week, the American Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) building is packed with people looking for bingo games as they try to win money, the Holland Sentinel reports.

Robert Gordon, chairman and club manager for the VFW, noted that individuals are superstitious and they bring pictures of anything from their dog to a grandchild for good luck.

"Believe me, when you're sitting there waiting for a [of] couple numbers, the adrenaline is pumping if you're talking about a jackpot of a couple thousand bucks," he told the paper.

The image of blue-rinsed old ladies is not true of this establishment, Mr Gordon remarked, as they get all ages through their doors.

However, the news provider observed that an impending smoking ban in public places - due to come in outlawed on May 1st - may affect the number of those who continue to turn up.

Michael F of Gaming Zion recently said that prohibition of cigarettes in the UK has had a profound effect on the industry.
