Bingo lovers will be spending their winnings on new trends from London Fashion Week
Bingo fans are going crazy for the latest beauty products as London Fashion Week sweeps the UK. Alongside the fashion and catwalk shows, the week brings the must-have beauty items and releases of new technology, which is sure to swallow up some money from bingo winnings this year.
One big event is the Olympia Beauty 2009 show, which is attracting beauty fans from across the country. Ian Archbold, show director for the event, said it has been a big success so far and many big name brands are showcasing their wares.
Lots of fresh-faced students have been flocking to the event to snap up bargain products from exhibitors like Fake Bake, dermalogica and Helen E Cosmetics. Lucinda Townend, marketing coordinator for dermalogica, said it is great meeting customers and many are getting face mapping to see what products they really need to spend their student loans or bingo winnings on.
One of the big launches of this year is the Clarisonic, which uses new technology to clean the skin and leave bingo fans bright faced. The device has already hit the US and now UK ladies are getting the chance to sample the cosmetic device. According to the makers, the device "wiggles the skin in a very specific way - 300 times a second" and this cleans it.
David Hughes, director of international operations at Clarisonic, said it is six times better than make up removal and has been lapped up by Courtney Cox, Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz. "We are not physically altering the skin, we're not changing that, what we are doing is cleaning it to a new level," he added.
Dr Robb Akridge, co-founder and vice president of clinical research at Pacific Bioscience Laboratories, said that the device is great for anyone, regardless of their skin type or age. The product can remove make up, even skin, enhance product absorption and help to reduce the signs of aging, he claimed.
Elsewhere at the 25th London Fashion Week designers, models and clothes lovers alike turned out for the first show's last weekend.
Saturday September 10th, the second day of this year's event, saw creations from top names like John Rocha, Margaret Howell, Jenny Peckham, PPQ and Mark Fast hit the catwalk.
The big news of the show so far is Mark Fast using regular-sized models who are size 12 and 14, which created reaction in the fashion world and the media. PPQ also made a statement by only putting black models on the catwalk, causing a stir in the audience, which included the likes of Alexa Chung and the Geldof sisters.
This year's event is being held at Somerset House on the Strand, a change of location from last year, and the area is split into four areas with the BFC Catwalk Show Space showcasing the likes of Matthew Williamson, Vivienne Westwood and Burberry Prorsum.
Whether you are attending the shows or getting all the gossip from the reports online while playing a game of bingo, there is sure to be more coming from the capital's biggest fashion week.
