Bingo fun can be had by bingo players of all ages
Customers of all ages are being drawn to bingo, according to hall bosses.
Stag and hen parties, older men and older women form part of the client base currently playing the game of luck, explained Rhiannon Abbott, Fountainpark's Mecca Bingo duty manager.
She told the Scotsman that new technology has enabled bigger jackpots to be available, while special deals on food and drink have been created to appeal to customers.
"We have members ranging from 18 to 90 now," Ms Abbott added, saying a lot of men came in by themselves nowadays, in contrast to recent years when it was mainly women.
One regular player, 78-year-old Margaret Linton, was also interviewed by the newspaper.
She said one of her main reasons for playing bingo for the past two decades was the chance to meet friends.
"I just love bingo," she explained.
Meanwhile, this week saw a blind woman's efforts to make electronic bingo cards available pay off.
Newsday reported that 51-year-old Joanna Richardson of New York plays the game weekly and realised she had won when her card notified her by playing a sound.
