Europe-wide bingo qualifications may soon be available
While it is currently possible to achieve an NVQ Level 2 in Gambling Operations (Bingo), a new qualification relating to European bingo may soon be on its way, if industry changes suggested by the EQ-Bingo project are implemented.
According to the Bingo Hideout, the initiative was set up as part of the Leonardo Da Vinci programme, involving the Bingo Association, to identify the differences and the similarities in Europe-wide games of bingo in order to create a qualification that improves the sector.
The scheme is also interested in developing a training system that will allow all those employed in the bingo industry to move around and about the continent by bringing in a qualification that is applicable in a variety of countries.
Factors considered in the report include job roles in the bingo industry, taxation, different licences and authorities, the gross taxation yield per region and legislation rules and requirements.
This comes after Bingo Sites' Hannah Jones observed that the real-time version of the bingo game was dealt something of a blow by the government.
Despite receiving a petition with more than 2,000 signatures of bingo lovers everywhere, Whitehall has decided to go ahead with plans to raise the tax on bingo from 15 per cent to 22 per cent.
