Munching on a small amount of chocolate while playing online bingo can be good for you

Ladies who like to nibble on a chocolate or ten while playing online bingo can relax, as some great scientists have found that it is actually good for us.

These genius people, from Holland and Switzerland, have told us that 20g of dark chocolate in the morning and evening can actually improve our mood. They found that it can help to balance high hormone levels in people who are under pressure – so all of us desperately wanting to get our next online bingo win.

Researcher Sunil Kochhar, who was in charge of the team, said there is "strong evidence" that 40g of chocolate each day is "sufficient to modify the metabolism of healthy volunteers".

What's even better is that Mr Kochhar has said that the antioxidants and other substances in the sweet treat can also help reduce risk factors for heart disease and other physical problems.

This group of scientists aren't the only ones recommending that we have our daily chocolate fix, as recent research from European Dermatology London found that chocolate which is high in flavonal levels can help to protect human skin against harmful sun rays.

Commenting on the research, Barry Chung, commercial manager at The Chocolate Society, said: "We are saying that a couple of tablets a day would be enough, which I would call possibly 10-15g of good dark chocolate. We are not talking bars of chocolate – but a couple of segments a day is sufficient."
