Cosmic Bingo 'A Party For All'

Cosmic bingo on Friday night at the Seminole Casino in Hollywood, Florida, is "a party first and a high–stakes, high–speed bingo competition second", South Florida Metromix has asserted.

The event attracts bingo players of all ages, including plenty of young women who say an evening having fun with their friends is more fun than a night of clubbing.

"It’s healthier than other nightclubs," said Diana Ramirez, a 21-year-old bingo player. "There can be fights in clubs and stuff, but here everyone’s joking and dancing around. It’s different. I think that the mix of ages is interesting because you don’t see it much nowadays.”

Music from the 1980s pumps through the speakers and dancing is "practically mandatory", according to the news source, which added that it is common to see dance contests erupt between players.

On this side of the pond, so-called 'football widows' have bonded over games of bingo while their blokes head off to the pub to watch the match.
