Bingo games for charity being put on
A few rounds of bingo are to be played in the US in order to raise money for the Susan G Komen Foundation, a breast cancer charity.
Students from the University of New Mexico's Anderson School of Management are hosting the event in Ballroom B of their students' union on November 19th, with the first numbers being shouted out at 18:30 local time.
Prizes up for grabs include gift baskets and gift cards for several different stores, including Starbucks, iPod nanos and autographed Lobo basketballs.
A raffle and silent auction are also being put on throughout the event, with the auction closing after the eighth round of the numbers game.
Those wishing to take part in the evening's entertainment can purchase tickets from staff prior to or during the affair.
The game of bingo appears to attract philanthropists as, aside from these do-gooding students, over in the UK one lucky player - who scooped a jackpot of £50,000 - donated several thousand pounds of her win to different charities.
The winner, who has preferred to remain anonymous, has given £1,000 to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and the same amount again to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
