Blackpool bingo halls doing well
A pair of bingo halls in Blackpool are looking to a "bright future", with the independent Empire Bingo Hall set to celebrate its 35th anniversary.
Bingo Hideout reported that the hall, founded in 1965 by John and Elaine Bottomley, is the only independently-owned bingo facility in the town and some customers have been playing the game for decades.
Empire, in Marton, attributes its staff and loyal players - many of whom have been using the facility since it was first built in Blackpool - to its long-running success.
In addition, the Mecca Bingo Ball is another Blackpool success story and is doing "very well indeed", the news source reports.
Meanwhile, a bingo hall came to the rescue during a recent downpour at the Brookhaven Exchange Club Fair in Mississippi.
The hall's pavilion offered welcome shelter from the falling rain, which caused the rides at the fair to come to a standstill.
