Bingo halls a must for making friends, say players

Bingo fun is still popular among many for bringing people together and helping bingo players make new friends

Many bingo players still flock to bingo halls to take in a game or two because they love being able to meet new friends there, according to the Edinburgh Evening News.

While online bingo has taken off in recent years, many players still enjoy the experience of taking a trip to a bingo hall, the newspaper suggests.

One such bingo player, 78-year-old Margaret Linton from Slateford, said: "I just love bingo, particularly for the friends you meet."

It also seems that bingo in general is becoming more popular among players of both sexes and all ages, with some bingo halls reporting an increase in younger players in particular.

Ms Linton added: "The young girls love the bingo. They scream much louder than the older women, even if they only win £2."

Meanwhile, an MP recently praised bingo halls for the contribution they make to the local community, the Crewe and Nantwich Guardian reports.

Edward Timpson, MP for Crewe and Nantwich, said in a parliamentary debate that bingo is usually the primary leisure activity for those living near to a bingo hall and claimed that this helps to fulfil local people's need for social interaction.ADNFCR-2445-ID-19177175-ADNFCR
