Bingo Players Do Their Bit For Charity

Bingo is a charitable game

Bingo players are often involved in fundraising activities for charitable organisations, it has been claimed.

According to Bingo Port, the words 'charity' and 'bingo' are closely associated.

The news source pointed out that last month, the Gala Group raised the "colossal" sum of £212,000 for breast cancer charities.

It did so to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which will see a range of activities taking place designed to generate money and increase people's knowledge about the disease.

According to figures cited by Breast Cancer Care, someone in the UK is diagnosed with breast cancer every 11 minutes.

This month, the organisation is encouraging people to organise so-called 'pink Fridays' in order to generate cash to go towards tackling breast cancer.

Commenting on the tendency of bingo players to get involved in charitable deeds, Bingo Port said: "From times immemorial, bingo has been played to raise funds for charity.

"Moreover, the bingo gaming industry is bound by law to donate a share of its profits to charity."

For this reason, some major charities are funded by bingo businesses, it added.
