Bingo player donates part of win

A generous bingo player from the north-west of England recently gave away some of her winnings, it has emerged.

According to reports in the Liverpool Echo, the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, chose to donate £1,000 of her bingo prize to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

The organisation provides practical advice to those affected by the condition, as well as support for smokers who wish to quit. It also issues guidance to children concerning the dangers of the vice.

In addition, it campaigns to increase research funding and to raise awareness about lung cancer detection.

As well as giving some of her money to this cause, the bingo fan set aside a further £1,000 for Breakthrough for Breast Cancer.

The woman, who is from Bootle, received the winnings - which came to an impressive £50,000 - while playing a game at Buckingham Bingo, where she is a regular.

According to the Liverpool Echo, she visits the bingo hall at least four times a week to participate in the activity and wait for her numbers to be called out.
