A bingo hall worker has won £1m

A bingo hall employee has hit the big time after one very lucky win on a scratchcard that transformed her into an instant millionaire.

And this couldn't have happened at a better time, Online Bingo Fans reports, as three years ago poor Audrey White was being put through the wringer.

The Felixstowe resident was certainly not experiencing the best of times in 2006, what with being threatened with repossession due to an ongoing battle against Natwest relating to an old overdraft.

Although she had already paid out £20,000 in interest for the £5,000 account, the bank was still demanding she fork out a further £18,000 or lose her house. And to top it all off, she was suffering from cancer.

Her guardian angel was clearly looking down on her, though, as a quick trip to Tesco's resulted in the biggest surprise of her life - a one million pound win on a single scratchcard.

"When I scratched off the panels and it said £1 million, I just sat and stared at it for 20 minutes," she was quoted as saying, with the first few payments from her win going on getting rid of her mortgage and making some home improvements.

Another victory of recent times was that of Rita Hardy of Eastbourne, who netted the jackpot of £23,000 during a routine game of bingo.
