Bingo hall set for refurb

Plans for the refurbishment of a bingo hall have been submitted

Bingo fans in Loughborough may be pleased to hear that a local hall is planning to upgrade its facilities.

Under the terms of proposals devised by Beacon Bingo, which runs the facility, a new £60,000 room will be constructed featuring a range of bingo machines, LoughboroughEcho.net reports.

The annex, which is currently a smoking room, will allow cigarette enthusiasts to continue puffing away while playing bingo.

General manager of the bingo hall Kevin Farmsworth said that the smoking area will be enclosed with machines available to play on outside.

Commenting on the motivation for the refurbishment, he said: "Smokers can't play inside the club which is a massive problem. We did have a cigarette that you could smoke indoors but we did not sell many of them so it has gone by the way."

Thanks to the new room, smokers will be able to play like they used to, he added.

Charnwood Borough Councils licensing department will decide whether the plans can go ahead and a decision is expected to be reached in October.

Recently, bingo fans in the US lobbied for the opening of a new hall in the town of Kimberly, the North Jefferson News reported.
