Bingo games still popular in recession

The recession cannot stop people's passion for bingo games

The draw of playing bingo games remains popular despite the ongoing recession, it has been claimed.

According to John Terruso, captain of the Audubon fire department in Atlantic City, the pass-time has retained its appeal, the Cherry Hill Courier Post reports.

Over the past half-century, the department has held weekly fundraising bingo sessions which attract an average of between 80 and 100 people.

He commented: "We noticed we've had some people take time off because of the economy, but for every one person that we lose, we get two more."

Meanwhile, Bill Cunningham - who helps to run the games - said that bingo can create a family atmosphere.

The bingo enthusiast added: "That's why [people] keep coming back, because we run a good game and we run an honest game."

An article recently published on BingoPort.co.uk suggested that online bingo provides people with the opportunity to get together and meet new friends.
