Bingo lovers in the Ellesmere Port area have helped raise some much-needed cash for a national charity.
The Mecca Bingo members helped to put £941 into the coffers of the Marie Curie Cancer Trust - Mecca's chosen charity - as part of a drive which saw 98 bingo clubs stage fundraising events, the Ellesmere Port Pioneer reported.
Gary Shanks, general manager of Mecca Ellesmere Port, told the news provider: "I've been so impressed with the drive and enthusiasm the team members have shown over the past two years when it came to organising fundraising.
"The impressive result achieved by Mecca Bingo clubs as a whole just goes to show how hard everyone has worked. Thanks to Mecca Bingo more people will have the choice to spend their final days in their own home, the place they most want to be."
Over the last two years Mecca Bingo's staff and members have helped raise £420,000 for the charity through a number of events, one of which saw two staff members jump out of a plane.
